September 13, 2026:
lee smith memorial golf tournament
Thanks to everyone who joined us for the annual Lee Smith Memorial Golf Tournament, on a beautiful day, at the Nursery Golf Course, just West of Lacombe. We ended up with a three-way tie for first, but eventually Martin and Goldie Collins alongside Ross and Colleen Campbell drew the low card to get their names back on the trophy.
Congratulations to all of our golfers and a big thank you to the amazing partners and sponsors - including Element Precast Inc, Panago and Mr. Lube, who made this day and the roast beef supper possible. We'd also like to express our deep appreciation to organizers Arnie, Cherry, and Dewey and the other incredible volunteers who made the day possible.

renew your legion membership now
All members can now renew your memberships online or at the Lacombe Legion. You will need your membership card number to renew through the link below. Please complete the 3-step online renewal form to continue your membership in The Royal Canadian Legion.
Annual memberships run January through December and Centenary memberships were issued at no charge in 2026. Membership fees are $55 until Dec. 31. On January 1st memberships will increase to $65.

CHASE THE ACE found: $6,300 awarded!
This Summer's 'Chase the Ace' contest at the Lacombe Legion SOLD-OUT and the jackpot was maxed at $6,300 in September! After a sudden-death, multi-round draw on September 12th, Brian Quast found the Ace of Hearts behind envelope #39! Congratulations if you had it right too!
Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and helped support Lacombe Legion programming this Summer. Our next game is now underway! Can you find the Ace? โฅ

BRIAN STEFANSKI WINS COIN RAFFLE!
Brian Stefanski was our Centenary Coin Raffle Winner. The draw for gold and silver commemoration coins was made at our 100th Anniversary celebration on July 17th. Thank you to everyone who participated and bought tickets. Brian graciously donated the Silver Proof Coin back to the Lee Smith Golf Tournament on September 13th, and it was won a second time by Yvonne Oness at a value of $209.95. Thank you Brian!

100th anniversary bench unveiled!
We are excited to unveil the new 100th Anniversary Royal Canadian Legion Bench outside our Downtown Lacombe Branch headquarters. Check out our Facebook page for more photos of the Centenary Celebrations on July 17th.

2026 bursary & Scholarships
Three Lacombe students were awarded $2500 bursaries from the Lacombe Legion (Branch No. 79) as part of the Legion's annual community commitment to supporting youth and the descendants of Veterans. Two others received Legion Award Scholarships in the amount of $200 each.

The presentation in June coincided with seasonal graduation events in our area.
Congratulations to all of this year's deserving recipients:
2026 Legion Bursary:๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก is the great granddaughter of a WWII veteran who served in the 7th Anti-tank Regiment. Aurora will be attending the U of A in the Bachelor of Science program majoring in Integrative Biology this Fall.
2026 Legion Bursary:๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ is the great granddaughter of a WWII veteran who served in the Fort Garry Horse brigade. She's attending Concordia University in Montreal in the Bachelor of Education program this Fall, specializing in teaching English as a second language.
2026 Legion Bursary:๐๐ฒ๐ฉ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ฏ๐ขs is the granddaughter of a Canadian Army veteran. Pyper will be attending MacEwan University in the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing Program this Fall. 2026 Legion Award:๐๐ฌ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ is the great granddaughter of an armed forces veteran. Isabella is attending the U of A Engineering program in the Fall.
2026 Legion Award:๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ก-๐๐๐ง๐๐ข ๐๐๐ฐ๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ is the great granddaughter of a veteran from the South Alberta Regiment. Allah-Denai will be attending Lethbridge Polytechnic in the Health Care Program specializing in recreational therapy.
On behalf of our members and our veterans, congratulations and best wishes for continued success in the years ahead.
We admire each of your academic and extra-curricular achievements this past year and share in your excitement for future education and experiences.
These awards are handed out annually and designed to support high-achieving, local students with a family connection to military service. If you have a future graduate applying for either the Legion award ($2000) or Bursary ($2500), they should start working on getting their great grand parents military records now if you donโt have them already, so records can be submitted with their application next year.
The primary repository for all Canadian military files is Library and Archives Canada

The Lacombe Legion was honoured to take part in a very special presentation in June, as ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ง received a beautiful Quilt from Quilts of Valour.
This handcrafted quilt serves as a symbol of gratitude, comfort, and recognition for Canadians who have served. This quilt is incredible.
Congratulations to our former 1st Vice President, and Retired Captain ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ง, Canadian Army on this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for your service, your dedication, and the example you continue to set in our community. We are proud to celebrate this meaningful honour with you and yours!
